Finding the World's Paradises

The Amwaj Islands, located just northeast of Bahrain, are a series of man mad islands covering roughly thirty million square feet of land in the ocean off the coast of Muharraq Island. They are connected to the main island by a causeway and have recently become fit for residential use.

The country of Dubai was the first to engineer a manmade island, their first project being that of the Palm Islands which resemble a palm tree in the ocean. With the success of the project, Dubai embarked on another adventure and created the World Islands which are a series of islands in the shape of every country in the world. This project actually did not go as well as the last one and so most of those islands are uninhabited. Bahrain literally means ‘two seas’ in Arabic and is known as the Kingdom of the Two Seas and sits in the Persian Gulf. Upon the discovery of petroleum, Iran tried to lay claim to this land but came to an agreement with the United Kingdom that they would not pursue the claim further.

The Amwaj Islands are fully functional as a residential and vacation destination. There are schools and hospitals on the islands as well as grocery stores, restaurants and retail establishments. They are their own little entity out in the Persian Gulf and where a lot of people come to escaping the political strife that sometimes occurs in Bahrain. There are water parks and bird sanctuaries on Dalphene Island and Farasha Island boasts the commercial hub where people go to shop and work. Tala Island is a gated community which boasts apartment living at its finest. Having worked all their lives, some folks retire to Wardeh Island to live out their golden years in luxury as there are many oceanfront villas and condominiums in which to reside and some even use the property as rentals for tourists.

Lots of ex-patriots purchase land on the islands because of the climate and the nature of the surroundings. The engineers spared no expense when they were building the infrastructure and it really shows in the beauty and architecture of the buildings and homes. Land prices have begun to climb because of the fact that once the infrastructure was complete, land investors came by the boat load purchasing all they could and turning it into residential and vacation property. There are lots of dreams to be had and memories to be created while vacationing here, so much so that returning to live and retire becomes an option to consider after experiencing the tranquility and beauty. No tourist will come away feeling dissatisfied by their experiences on the islands. If anything, they will seek an investor to help them stay forever!
